Word association – perceptions of foxes

The power of words…these wordclouds show the type of language associated with foxes – from media reports and from 17 online survey respondents.  Although a relatively small survey, patterns still emerged with common words like “sly” and “cunning” appearing more than once.

As you can see, the language of the media is dominated by aggressive, violent words, whereas residents of London and other cities were more likely to have positive associations (although not entirely).  The third wordcloud shows how people describe their own reaction if they see a fox in the city.
